At Poetry Plays, we're always interested in hearing from artists creating ambitious, original performance work with poetry at its heart.

Alongside our advertised open calls, we welcome submissions throughout the year from artists, companies, collectives, producers, and creative practitioners who would like us to consider their work for future programming, development opportunities, partnerships, commissions, showcases, or presentations.

We are passionate about supporting artists who explore the relationship between poetry and performance in exciting and unexpected ways. This includes both performance poetry projects and work from other artforms where poetry forms a central creative, narrative, thematic, or structural element.

what we're looking for

We welcome proposals from artists working across a broad range of disciplines, including:

Theatre
Dance and Movement
Spoken Word and Performance Poetry
Opera and Music Theatre
Music Performance.
Live Art and Performance Art
Digital and Multimedia Performance
Community and Participatory Projects – artist-led work that involves communities in the creation or presentation of poetry-based performance.

Information about how poetry is incorporated into the work.
The names and roles of key artists involved.
Previous performance history (if applicable).
Details of any development stage the project is currently in.
Links to video documentation, audio recordings, websites, reviews, portfolios, or other supporting materials.

Existing work that is performance-ready and seeking future presentation opportunities.
Work in development that would benefit from artistic, producing, technical, or dramaturgical support.

Whether your project is fully realised, recently premiered, or still evolving, we would be delighted to hear about it.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Our team reviews submissions on a rolling basis throughout the year.

While we are unable to provide detailed feedback on every proposal, all submissions are carefully considered. If we believe there is a suitable opportunity for collaboration, development, programming, presentation, or partnership, we will be in touch.
