SIX THINGS

Two elegant red wine glasses on a textured surface.

Six antiques. Six poets. One epic poem.

Directed and curated by Louis de Bernières, Six

Things presents a series of characters who form

an unwitting interpersonal circle through the

antique objects that have come into their

possession. Written by Louis de Bernières, Jill Abram, Mary Mulholland, Kathy Pimlott, Clarissa Aykroyd and Ellen McAteer. Performed by storyteller James Peacock.

CANVEY ISLAND BABY

A performer dances in front of a large screen showing close-up hands and feet.

A theatrical collage exploring the

interface between history, place and mental health, set on an island in the Thames estuary. Featuring extracts from Jacquot Pfau’s lo-fi song cycle Canvey Island Baby, Mick Wood’s poetry sequence Estuary English, and French film-maker Eloise Frey’s atmospheric footage from Canvey. With choreography by Jan Wood.

LIFE CLASS

Man standing in dramatic spotlight on stage, wearing vest and rolled-up sleeves.

In his last few moments in his remote shack on the Suffolk marshes, a reclusive hoarder strives to make sense of his ghosts and clutter. Poet and photographer Martin Figura, with his celebrated wit and humanity, shows us how even the most stunted of lives can be transformed into a work of profound art.

LIFE CLASS

FIRST THOUGHT BEST THOUGHT

with language and improvisation as his poetry is captured on canvas. Performed in

DAUGHTERS OF SAPPHO

ALL THE THINGS I SAID

DAUGHTERS OF SAPPHO

Hailing from Greece and Latvia, but based in London, Tallinn, and Amsterdam, four friends – Theano, Sofia, Alkistis and Alise find a shared sense of belonging through sound, movement and

words. With the inspiration of Sappho’s timeless poetry, we are taken on a journey of free improvisation, bringing to life sounds from Greek traditional music, Georges Aperghis, Angelique Lonatos and beyond. With soprano Theano

Papadaki, violist Alkatis Misouli, dancer Sofia Filippou and accordionist Alisa Silina.

WALDRAND

ALL THE THINGS I SAID

DAUGHTERS OF SAPPHO

Observed by real and imagined demons, a family living on the edge of a forest struffles to come to terms with its self-imposed isolation. Transit Productions' interpretation of Mick Wood's poetry sequence set in the Vosges mountains. Haunting live music, storytelling and carnival masks, drawing on folk traditions from Alsace and the Black Forest.

ALL THE THINGS I SAID

ALL THE THINGS I SAID

ALL THE THINGS I SAID

Tom Stockley's piece about the experience of living with ADHD, All the Things I Said is a funny, tragic, angry, defiant piece of work that encapsulates perfectly what we mean when we talk about poetry playing in the theatre.
